Patti, also known as the better half of the Chick-and-Patti team, grew up in South Dakota, graduated from nursing school and now works at the Medical Center of the Rockies. Music has been a large part of her life, starting with high school, where she marched in Jimmy Carter’s Inaugural parade as a member of the Platte (SD) High Marching School Band. In a lifelong commitment to live music, she has attended over 600 blues shows with her husband Chick. Patti has experience as her bowling league’s secretary/treasurer, sits on several committees at the Medical Center of the Rockies and has been involved in a number of fundraising events along the Front Range. Last Thanksgiving, she organized a fundraiser for a Loveland High School teacher who was severely injured in a bicycle/car accident. Utilizing many of her blues friends, this impromptu event generated $10,000 for the family. This past year Patti was a member of the IBC committee, where she served as a scorekeeper and timekeeper. She attended most of CBS Board meetings, has assisted with Board secretarial duties, and is ready to “keep the record straight” for CBS.
Paula is mostly retired from a career in high tech as an author, international lecturer, consultant and columnist. She has a long history of service with non-profits including professional “geek” organizations, Etown, Chautauqua and CBS. She has been a CBS Director for 2 years and is ready to step up to a more challenging role. During the past 2 years, she organized the annual meetings, led the nomination and election process, recruited and staffed local IBC competition volunteers, assisted in upgrading the web site, managed the mailing lists and worked to improve the teamwork and effectiveness of the society’s leadership. A small-business owner for decades, Paula is fiscally conservative and very comfortable with the processes and procedures required to manage CBS finances.
Hilary has lived in Colorado since 1977 and has cultivated a love of the Blues, outdoor Blues festivals in particular. Every summer for the past 15 years, she has returned to her hometown in upstate New York to attend the Chenango Blues Fest. She joined CBS at the 1998 Blues & Bones festival in the Golden Triangle in Denver, where a virtually unknown Susan Tedeschi performed. Hilary has volunteered with Etown and Chautauqua for over 6 years. If she’s not listening to music, Hilaryis probably digging in the dirt—she loves to garden and has owned and operated a small farm in Niwot. Hilary has hands-on experience in the operation of two small businesses, and in that capacity has managed banking, marketing, public relations, design, web design, and blogging for those businesses. Hilary has spent the past nine years as a Program Manager for Sun Microsystems in services, marketing and HR. “I would really like to assist CBS in networking, increasing membership, helping with festival coordination and implementing innovative and exciting new ideas. I believe my business skills, networking abilities and excitement can bring the CBS to a new level of participation and engagement.”

Andrea comes to the CBS board with extensive volunteer board experience from her four years of service as Vice President of Public Relations for the Denver chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI). Under Andrea’s leadership, the PMI Mile Hi Chapter won a record four awards in 2009, including global Chapter of the Year. Andrea works as a project/process manager in the medical device industry. Andrea will continue to contribute her expertise to the CBS board, improving its reach and spreading the fun.
Dean has always been involved with music, from singing in grade school to experiencing that first Elvis record and Stones concert. His passion for live performances grew and he discovered Etown, a national radio broadcast, recorded live in Boulder. For nearly 15 years, Dean has been on the support staff at etown, assisting musicians both famous and those just getting started. He has volunteered at music venues in Boulder, Lyons, Keystone, Denver and Telluride for many years. Dean joined the Board of Directors at Frequent Flyers Productions, an aerial dance group in Boulder, and discovered how much his marketing and event experience could help this non-profit. He became Chairman and was instrumental in helping FFP double their cash flow during his five years there. He has been in marketing for IBM, now Infoprint, for most of his career. Dean manages international trade shows and events, with an annual budget of more than a million dollars. He has enjoyed applying his work skills to non-profits for music, bicycling and running events, anyplace he can help make it a better experience for everyone.
Jeff is just completing his first three-year term as a director. Since October 2009 he has served as the chair of the education committee, where he administers the Blues In The Schools program and related fund-raising and grant-writing efforts. Jeff is in his seventh year as the host of the weekly blues radio show The House Rent Party on KRFC 88.9 FM Fort Collins. He also serves as the station’s lead Blues programmer, where he evaluates new releases and makes recommendations to his fellow disc jockeys about the songs to play. Jeff discovered Blues music through Willie Dixon, when as a teenager he wondered who wrote those great songs that many of the 60’s rock groups were covering. He also writes music reviews for the Colorado Blues Society’s newsletter, “The Holler.” Jeff serves on the Talent Advisory Committee for Bohemian Nights, a two-day music festival in Fort Collins, organized by the Bohemian Foundation.
